Need advice

what would you do if you were in my place?

let me know.

I’m a 23 yr girl (gonna go with that), whose father is having alcohol issues, and who won’t hesitate to take his own life if denied from drinking further.

Whenever mom or me, try to stop him from drinking he starts having a fit, talks about how he is gonna marry me to some guy, whom I don’t even know (well this arranged marriage system is pretty popular in India), despite the fact that IΒ  have a bf of last 7 years, and he talks about divorcing my mom.

My mom is already in an emotional state, and at last- I am still helpless, can’t do anything about this.

So he just keeps on drinking, even when the doctor has told him not to if he wants to live longer. But who cares right? Coz he’s having a midlife crisis, and whenever the mood strikes he’s just gonna pick up the damn bottle to his lips and chug. Fuck yeah, damn you, women, for caring for your own father or husband.

It’s fictional don’t worry πŸ˜‰

  1. Fuck that. You can’t change or control anything other than how you react. You and your fictional mom need to head to a support group, maybe al-anon or a survivor’s group. Look in your area and find people who have been through this shit and can give you their lessons-learned advice. My original thought was “leave his ass”. Maybe the shock of losing his family will straighten him out, but then you mentioned suicide. He needs serious help and you can’t force him to seek it. In the meantime, I’m not opposed to watering down his bottles. God speed, best wishes to you all. xoxo

  2. Hi Pia.
    As much as the last line says it’s fiction, it is a reality to someone somwhere who may be reading. I agree with all Gilberto Torres Jr. Said above. The surest place is to find peace in all that Christ has done for us. And also find a way to get help for their father. If he is physically abusive, the girl and mom should find safety somewhere.

    Ps. You write so well. Happy New Year to you ❀

  3. Since it’s fictional, make sure his life insurance is enough to take care of the family after he drinks himself to death. Actually give him more to expedite the death of someone who clearly doesn’t care about the family’s welfare during his life. πŸ˜‰

      1. In that case doctor give medicine, and give guide how feed patients.
        Note : that type patient not agree go to doctor for treatment hence family member should take appointment and understand treatment.

  4. I would put everything in God’s hands. God hears our prayers and we have to be confident that God is sovereign and always in control of everything. Everything we go through works together for good (Romans 8:28). We don’t always understand why things happen but God wants to manifest His glory in those difficult situations. Because when He does, everybody can look at Christ and say, “It was You.” πŸ™‚ Cheers! Love your writing btw
